Server
Table of Contents
A client-server solution is recommended when the software is to be distributed to multiple clients via a central point. In this case, the software only needs to be installed on one server.
Terminal server solution
A terminal server solution is recommended when the software is used directly by multiple users on the same terminal server. Here, installation is only performed on the terminal server.
Terminal server solution with access to network share
It is possible to combine a terminal server solution with a client-server solution. In a terminal server environment, a central software installation is used by one or more users directly on the server, while clients can simultaneously use the software via client-server.
Server virtualization is used when we want to run multiple virtual servers on physical hardware. To do this, virtualization software is installed on the host server, which provides resources to the virtual machines.
Virtualisation is feasible, but performance losses may occur. The non-physical allocation of cores and overprovisioning can burden performance, especially if other systems burden the hypervisor. The lack of limits, priorities, or fixed resource commitments can cause problems. On the other hand, using fixed limits can affect load balancing, as unused resources cannot be temporarily allocated to other systems.
Operating systems
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2019
- Windows Server 2022
- NET Framework from Version 4.7.2
Hard drives
SSD drives are recommended for better operating speed.
CPU
⚠️ The following requirements apply exclusively to Orgadata software in terminal server, VDI, RDP, and cloud environments such as Azure. The requirements of the operating system, third-party software, and interfaces must also be taken into account. In any case, at least 4–6 GB RAM for the operating system and 4 CPU cores are required.
Recommendations for CPU speed:
- Maximum age of 5 years
- Highest possible single-core speed (2.5 GHz or more at base frequency)
Requirements per user/connection:
- Minimum: 1 core per session and per installation folder, 1 GB RAM
- Recommendation: 2 cores or more per session and per installation folder, 2–3 GB RAM
NOTE:
When importing positions for curtain walls, it is recommended to use more than 2 cores. The above requirements apply per machine. The operating system requirements per user must also be taken into account on client computers. On terminal servers, the operating system requirements are added only once.
File sharing
If the server provides the installation folder via file sharing and there are 15 or more simultaneous users, a 10 Gbit/s Ethernet connection to the server is recommended. This includes the appropriate cabling, as each client requires approximately 1 Gbit/s.
